The Envelope, Please …

article1_smDuring the last week in January, the international leadership of the Sonesta Collection converged on the Sonesta Philadelphia for the Sonesta 2015 Annual Conference. With the hotel’s stylish new makeover, relaxing new Art Bar and more than 16,000 square feet of meeting space – including the elegant Wyeth Ballroom – it was the ideal venue. Attendees found the perfect spaces for productive meetings, breakout sessions and spontaneous chats about how Sonesta’s General Managers and their teams the world over exceed their guests’ expectations with exemplary service and plenty of surprises. There was a lot to celebrate this year. With a record number of hotel renovations and redesigns recently completed, Sonesta is poised to provide the most outstanding hotel experiences in the coming years. As you can imagine, this was a topic of much conversation. The conference was also an opportunity for Sonesta to recognize the cream of the 2014 crop among our International, Extended Stay and Full Service hotels in several categories.   The Employee Engagement Award was given to hotels that keep their employees engaged in the day to day operation of the property and exhibit a low turnover. This is one of the core principles of Sonesta’s success. Employee satisfaction shines through to our guests and brightens their days, but it also fosters a knowledgeable staff whose years of experience benefit our guests. The winners were selected by tallying the results of Employee Surveys and the rates of employee turnover: International: Sonesta Great Bay Beach Resort, Casino & Spa – Sint Maarten Extended Stay: Sonesta ES Suites Malvern Valley Forge Full Service: Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore   The Guest Engagement Award was presented to the three Sonesta hotels that scored highest on Sonesta’s Guest Satisfaction Surveys and on rank based on reviews shared on TripAdvisor. The judges noted that 2014 was a truly outstanding year across all properties. And with so many hotels recently redesigned, 2015 is poised to offer even more remarkable experiences. The winners were: International: Sonesta Posadas del Inca Sacred Valley – Yucay Extended Stay: Sonesta ES Suites Flagstaff Full Service: Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta   The Hotel of the Year Award was bestowed on those Sonesta properties that scored high in both of the above categories, while demonstrating impressive financial success, too. International: Sonesta Hotel Cusco Extended Stay: Sonesta ES Suites Orlando Full Service: Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island In addition, several employees received individual awards for their exceptional contributions. You can read more about them in our accompanying article. We think all our hotels are worthy of awards as Sonesta continues to push the envelope in stylish redesigns, in our Food Is Art and Liquid Art approaches to fine food, and in our creative take on meetings and conferences. We do hope you’ll join us soon to experience the winsome Sonesta Collection for yourself, whether for the first time or the hundredth.
