Last month, we talked about Road Trips as a great way to usher in the warm weather. With so many Sonesta hotels to choose from, it’s easy to plan a fun getaway and use several of our full-service, resort, or RE:imagined Sonesta ES Suites as a base – while taking advantage of our special discount for AAA and CAA members.
This summer, as you embark on your road trip and apply your AAA/CAA member discount, we know you’ll want to bask in the glorious sunshine. So we’ve prepared our pools, polished our patios and brushed up on nearby municipal and national parks – all to help you relax and have fun in the sun. Here’s our north-to-south sampling of fresh-air activities at or near hotels in the Sonesta Collection. Just click through to read more about their packages!
Enjoy Summer in the City with Sonesta
Visit the Royal Sonesta Boston for the ultimate summer-in-the-city getaway. Our riverfront patio at ArtBar has sweeping views of the Charles River and the beautiful Boston skyline, so you can enjoy cocktails, dinner and daily patio specials in a splendid setting. Join the fun during Rat Pack Monday, with live entertainment by singer and KISS-108 producer Rich DiMare. Our Atrium-style swimming pool has a private sundeck. And you’ll enjoy easy access to the Esplanade, Boston’s famed emerald-green park along the Charles.
At the Sonesta Philadelphia, take a dip in the outdoor, rooftop swimming pool, with great views of the City of Brotherly Love. You’ll also be within walking distance of Rittenhouse Square, one of the city’s most popular green spaces lined with trees and gardens and home to shopping and outdoor dining opportunities.
In Charm City, too, the Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore lures you to a rooftop pool; this one is seven stories high. It may be glass-enclosed, but you’ll surely feel like you’re outdoors with spectacular views of the city’s beautiful harbor. And lovely walking paths lead to the National Aquarium, historic waterfront neighborhood of Fells Point and – if you’re in town for baseball – Camden Yards.
Savor Summertime in the South
If a resort getaway is more your speed, you’ll love the Sonesta Resort Hilton Head Island. Relax in its spectacular swimming pool or on the adjacent Atlantic beach. Enjoy outdoor dining at any of its three fabulous restaurants, tee off at one of the island’s fine golf courses, and cycle or hike along 50 miles of seaside paths.
At the Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta, eleven acres of parkland are right outside your door, little wonder since metro Atlanta is well-known for its rolling hills and dense tree cover. Onsite, the hotel’s unique “swim-out” pool is half indoor and half outdoor. Nearby, Stone Mountain Park offers outdoor leisure at its southern best, with walking trails and a hike up its 1,686-foot dome.
Get into the summertime jazz spirit at the Royal Sonesta New Orleans, with its exclusive Bourbon Street address. When you’re not exploring the French Quarter, relax by the tropical, courtyard pool and savor street-side dining at the newly renovated Desires restaurant (see the accompanying article). Nearby, you can enjoy the fresh air at the Audubon Zoo and the Audubon Butterfly Garden & Insectarium.
For Florida lovers, Sonesta has two temptations. At the Sonesta Coconut Grove Miami, enjoy the spectacular setting of the swimming pool and savor outdoor dining at the Panorama restaurant, both perched on the 8th floor of the hotel with magnificent views of Biscayne Bay. Peacock Park is nearby, a favorite local spot for baseball, skateboarding and climbing jungle gyms, no matter what your age. You can also experience our newest U.S. Sonesta at the Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Beach. Its swimming pool is lined with charming cabanas, and seven miles of golden-sand beach are right outside your door. What’s more, you can canoe or kayak at the nearby Hugh Taylor Birch State Park.
