At Sonesta ES Suites, we like to celebrate the little things. In October, World Vegetarian Day and Take Your Teddy Bear to Work Day have kept us healthy and … well … a little snuggly. And on National Dessert Day, October 14, the Sonesta ES Suites South Brunswick Princeton put out quite a spread of 30 desserts for all to indulge in.
But sometimes it’s the gifts from the heart that make the biggest impression. The Sonesta ES Suites South Brunswick Princeton staff and guests took a symbolic walk around the parking lot perimeter on October 22 to raise breast cancer awareness. They called it the “Breast Cancer Awareness Jeans & 5-Acre Walk” since the staff waived their typical uniforms and (for a $5 donation to the cause) wore jeans instead. The team raised over $200 in funds for the cause.
Meanwhile at the new Sonesta ES Suites Omaha, a group of foreign exchange students from China had their hearts set on experiencing a full-fledged cold weather season during their visit this month. As much as the staff at one of our newest Sonesta ES Suites wants to make every guest experience special, they can’t control the weather. So they started with pumpkins and pumpkin-carving contests on the Sports Court to provide a hint of the season. Then when there was no snow in the forecast, they rented a snow cone machine to serve up treats that give the students a taste of winter! You can imagine that this winter-wonderland of a surprise was more than the everyday type.
But perhaps the most moving everyday surprise of the month comes from the Sonesta ES Suites Tucson. When one of the guests there (also a new Sonesta ES Suites location) stepped out, the latch to his door didn’t catch. His Australian Shepherd, Rende, decided to “take a walkabout in the lovely weather,” the way Rende’s owner tells it. The housekeeping manager spotted Rende, recognized him and returned the wayward canine to his room. “She very easily could have ignored him, called animal control, or any other number of options besides going above and beyond to make sure my dog was safe. She then followed up with me after I returned to the room,” Rende’s owner said. “This situation could have ended tragically very, very easily.”
Certainly, we invite you to celebrate the everyday with us as we continue to find days on the calendar and ways in our lives to surprise and delight at Sonesta ES Suites. What’s more, you can always expect the unexpected from us and we strive to make your visit much more than a simple hotel stay.
