At Sonesta, we believe the cold days of winter that embrace our northern properties call for a long, relaxing pause over a sinfully delicious cup of hot chocolate. So this month, we asked our mixologists for their favorite Liquid Art concoctions. We, of course, got to “work” making a cup for ourselves so we could try them out before passing them on to you. And if hot chocolate isn’t your cup of tea, we’re happy to offer some alternative below, as well. Enjoy!
Sonesta Hot Cocoa Recipe
Royal Sonesta Boston
2 cups heavy cream
2 cups milk
8 oz. semi-sweet chocolate
Heat heavy cream and milk to almost boiling. Remove from heat and add chocolate, whisking until chocolate is melted.
Peppermint Patty Hot Cocoa
Sonesta Coconut Grove Miami
1 oz. peppermint schnapps
1 oz. creme de cacao
6 oz. hot cocoa
Crushed peppermints and red sprinkles for garnish (optional)
Prepare hot cocoa as above. You might substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream if you wish. Combine schnapps, creme de cacao and hot cocoa in a large mug. Stir to combine. Top with whipped cream and garnish with crushed peppermints and red sprinkles.
