When Jordan Cooper, General Manager of Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square, came to Sonesta, he did so with extensive industry experience. His leadership experience includes General Manager positions with Hilton, Doubletree, Marriott, Millennium, and, most recently, the Wyndham Hotel in downtown Chicago, so everyone at Sonesta knew right away that he had what it takes to lead a hotel. What we didn’t know, however, is just how successful he would be.
Recently, Jordan and Sonesta Philadelphia were awarded Sonesta’s prestigious Hotel of the Year Award for 2016, which stands as a testament to Jordan’s commitment to his hotel and to upholding Sonesta’s high standards during his day-to-day activities. Jordan led Sonesta Philadelphia in taking calculated risks to optimize their results – and we think these results speak for themselves. Not only did Sonesta Philadelphia see the highest improvement in employee engagement, growing employee survey scores by 8 points, but this hotel also saw their TripAdvisor grow by an impressive 5 points, putting Sonesta Philadelphia into the top 20% of a very competitive market.
Jordan has made his career leading hotels because he enjoys the different challenges he faces on a daily basis while encountering new people, issues, and decisions – all while working toward the long-term goal of the hotel. While with Sonesta, Jordan has enjoyed the challenge of repositioning the hotel while helping to grow its market share. From leading his team through the hotel’s physical transformation to signing a lease with Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Jordan has helped to turn Sonesta Philadelphia into one of the area’s leading hotels.
When he’s not working, Jordan is out enjoying Philadelphia’s restaurants, sports, museums, and other cultural activities. You might also find him in either Arizona or Costa Roca, which are his favorite vacation destinations. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, however, you can expect that he’ll have a good book and some sunscreen on hand, allowing him to relax and take the days as they come.
