“Wawa Welcome America” Rocks Philadelphia!

Philadelphians and visitors from all over will be dancing and dining and gasping at fireworks for six days of celebration this year, part of the annual Independence Day Wawa Welcome America party. And Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square wants to help you celebrate!

It all starts June 29 with more than 50 free multicultural and multigenerational events. The city opens many of its museums for free on select days, so you can browse the collections and exhibits at the Philadelphia Museum of Art (July 2) and the African American Museum (July 1) at no cost. Enjoy street performers, block parties, movies at the “Rocky” steps at the Museum of Art, and interactive fun for kids, courtesy of the Mummers Museum. Take advantage of your stay and be sure to stop by the fascinating memorials that tell the nation’s story: Independence Hall, the National Constitution Center, the Liberty Bell, the Betsy Ross House and more. You can view a full roster of events here.

It all culminates in a stellar concert featuring the Philly POPS Big Band, an appearance by Boyz II Men and superstar Mary J. Blige. And of course, a dazzling fireworks show over the iconic Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Sonesta is not only a sponsor of this annual tradition. We’re also the perfect venue to help you get the most from your experience! Our special overnight event package includes FREE valet parking and 2 reserved seats in the VIP section of the concert. This last point is a big plus, as the venue is an outdoor setting designed as “standing room only.”

Limited space remains for this once-a-year event. Reserve your room soon at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square today!
