Looking for something to do during your upcoming stay at Sonesta ES Suites Auburn Hills Detroit? Take a trip to the Henry Ford Museum and you won’t be disappointed with your choice! Located only 30 miles from our hotel in the Detroit area, this is one attraction that’s worth the trip.
The Henry Ford Museum has 250 acres and three must-see attractions to explore during your visit. First, you can explore the Museum of American Innovation, where you can see a number of artifacts that play an important role in America’s history. For example, you’ll be able to see:
- The limousine where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated on November 22, 1963
- The bus on which Rosa Parks sparked a year-long bus boycott by refusing to give up her seat
- The exact chair where President Abraham Lincoln was sitting when he was shot in 1865
Next, you can visit Greenfield Village, a more than 80-acre exhibit that brings the sights and sounds of America’s past to life. For example, you can see a recreation of Thomas Edison’s laboratory – the same laboratory where he invented several important American inventions, including the incandescent lamp. You can also visit the bicycle shop where Orville and Wilbur Wright began their experiments with flight – experiments that would soon lead to the first ever airplane flight. Finally, you can tour the Ford Rouge Factory, an actual Ford factory, to learn about the history of automobile manufacturing in America.
Whether you are interested in the cars themselves or simply in the history of our great nation, the Henry Ford Museum has a little something for everyone. When you are done exploring, you can look forward to returning to our Detroit hotel for a little rest and relaxation. Our spacious suites have enough room for everyone to spread out, and our in-suite kitchens will allow you to cook your family’s favorite meals.
