Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore Celebrates a Maryland Tradition with Cocktail Specials

Did you know that the Preakness Stakes, the middle jewel in the legendary horse racing Triple Crown, is steeped in Maryland tradition and history?  Run since 1873, the event has become more than just a horse race; it’s a celebration of sport, spring, and now a festival, complete with music, fashion, food, drink, and more.

Of course, signature cocktails are mixed up to toast the event, and in true Baltimore style, Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore will be celebrating with their own versions of the traditional libations, including a Black Eyed Susan, named after the Maryland state flower, which is used to decorate the winning horse after the race.

If  you can’t be in Baltimore for the Preakness Stakes this year, you can still celebrate at home with these recipes for Black Eyed Susan or Black Eye Rye cocktails. If you are in Baltimore, be sure to stop by Explorers to catch the Preakness and to try one of these liquid art creations.
