Q: What do you like most about working within and leading a hotel or your hotels?
A: I am a very competitive person by nature and it gives me great pride when I can lead a happy, engaged team to achieve goals that bring high guest satisfaction and drive great financials results for the Brand.
Q: During your time with Sonesta – what have you enjoyed most?
A: Sonesta has had explosive growth since I joined in 2013 and I have had the honor to be asked to assist with training and onboarding new hotels and new teams to the Sonesta Family. Being a part of Sonesta’s ambitions has given me opportunities to strengthen my own skills as a hotel operator.
Q: What has been your most successful Everyday Surprise at one of your hotels?
A: When I was GM at the Charlotte ES we planted an herb garden for Earth Day. All the employees participated and we planted parsley, radishes, basil, chives and cilantro. Guests could visit the garden and pick fresh herbs to cook with or add to the meals we served during breakfast or evening social.
Q: If you weren’t a hotelier, what would you be?
A: I would be personal coach. I am passionate about helping people discover their full potential.
Q: What do you enjoy most about living in the greater Atlanta area?
A: Atlanta is a wonderfully diverse city with an incredible food scene. I love to eat so I look forward to discovering new and unique places in the city.
Q: Name your favorite place to visit— any destination in the world.
A: I have friends and family all over the world from Zimbabwe, Canada, England, Dubai, Australia, South Africa. Anywhere they are is my favorite place to be.
Q: Name three items you absolutely do not travel without.
A; Sadly the first is my phone as I am not yet brave enough to completely disconnect. My flip flops in case there is a beach somewhere. My husband, because he is my most favorite travel partner.
Q: What is something your guests would be surprised to know about you?
A; I studied to be an Engineer of all things, but like most in the industry, when the hospitality “bug” bites, all other plans are null and void.
