Confidant. Protector. Constant companion. Four-legged pal. They make us laugh like we laugh with no one else. They listen to our deepest secrets without judgment. They calm us down after a hectic day. As friends go, dogs are the best a person can have. Whether Pomeranian or poodle, golden retriever or golden doodle, they bring boundless joy to countless people. It’s why so many of our hotels are pet-friendly and why Sonesta ES Suites Cincinnati Blue Ash couldn’t resist an opportunity to celebrate them on National Dog Day.
National Dog Day, August 26, was founded by Colleen Paige in 2004 to bring attention to the needs of rescue and shelter dogs and to recognize the selflessness of service dogs that bring comfort to the elderly and the differently-abled and save lives as members of police and fire departments. Even the medical establishment has taken notice of the canine’s ability to detect cancer and oncoming seizures.
This year, Sonesta ES Suites Cincinnati Blue Ash acknowledged National Dog Day through the lense of our Culture of Caring by taking up donations for the local SPCA, the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Employees and guests alike contributed to the … ahem … kitty. By day’s end, much-needed supplies like water bowls, squeegee toys, and food had been gathered and delivered to the local chapter. It’s the least they could do for the furry friends who do so much for us.
