“If music be the food of love, play on!” So wrote William Shakespeare in Twelfth Night. And when it comes to feeding the musical passion of young girls and boys in a Baltimore elementary school, Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore hit a heartfelt chord last month.
During some recent renovations, the question posed to General Manager Bob Haislip was “What do we do with a Yamaha baby grand piano that we no longer need?” The answer was easy: Donate it to the kids. More specifically, to the music program at the Tench Tighlman Elementary School in Patterson Park.
You can imagine the surprise and delight of the teachers, the administrators, and the eager young musicians. Who knows? One of the lucky youngsters might be tickling those ivories all the way to the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra!
