Thousands of women undergo treatment for breast cancer each year. It is the work and mission of Living Beyond Breast Cancer to provide education and support for them. Since 1991, this critical organization has provided a safe space for women to access accurate and easy-to-understand information from medical experts while connecting with each other.
For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square was proud to host Pink Hour on October 24 to help raise money for Living Beyond Breast Cancer. During this exclusive art auction preview event, ten unique paintings by local artist and fashion illustrator Denise Fike were on display. Ms. Fike’s works were inspired by the glamorous looks created by Christian Dior, the mid-20th-century fashion genius. His fabulous designs are part of a retrospective at the Philadelphia Museum of Art through March 3, 2019.
The private preview event at ArtBar set the stage for bidding, which closed November 7. The evening saw donors and fashion lovers from near and far sipping pink cocktails from our Liquid Art collection, from a pink velvet martini to the fruity concoction known as the sparkling berry. Keeping in the spirit of Ms. Fike and Mr. Dior, all were dressed to impress. Those who wore pink were eligible to win an overnight stay at the hotel.
By November 7, all bids had been gathered and the money raised throughout the month was donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer, another worthwhile event from the Sonesta Culture of Caring.
