Last month, our Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore team celebrated the life of their beloved doorman, “Mr. Don” Coley. Mr. Don was part of the hotel family for over 32 years, and his impact on guests, employees, and local visitors will not be forgotten.
For the celebration, over 100 guests (including some from as far as Seattle), former employees, and a representative from the Mayor’s office came together to dedicate the hotel’s courtyard in Mr. Don’s name.
Royal Sonesta Harbor Court Baltimore General Manager Bob Haislip shared the following words in dedicating the courtyard and plaque:
“In closing, while I spoke to Don regularly after he left Harbor Court, and visited him in the hospital, that is not how I will remember Don Coley. I will remember him striding across the courtyard, a smile on his face, an open hand stretched out to direct our next guest and his rich baritone intoning “Welcome to Royal Sonesta Harbor Court.” I hope that Don has found a spot at a different door where he can once again welcome old friends and new faces.
It is with that memory that we honor Don today with this plaque, in recognition for what he meant to each and every one of us.”
The space will be a lasting tribute to this beautiful person who touched so many lives.
