This month’s Meet the GM post is dedicated to Bobbie Lal. What makes Bobbie an especially valued member our team? For starters, she manages not one, but two properties – Sonesta ES Suites South Brunswick and Sonesta ES Suites Princeton. Check out our Q&A with Bobbie below to learn more about her!
Q: What do you like most about working within and leading a hotel(s)?
A: What I love most about my position is working with an amazing team that share your vision and help drive the overall goals of our Brand. We are all invested personally and take pride in our service, work place, and work collectively as a team. With this amazing support, I was able to push myself to the next level as a Dual GM.
Q: During your time with Sonesta – what role/opportunity have you enjoyed or do you look forward to most?
A: Because of the support I have gotten from Sonesta, I was given the opportunity to oversee two hotels. I look forward to driving the same success, culture of caring, and building the Sonesta Brand within the Princeton Market.
Q: In your opinion, what has been your hotel’s most successful Everyday Surprise?
A: Our annual Pumpkin Carving contest during Halloween is definitely my favorite. This Everyday Surprise brings all of our staff together, building team work, competition, and our guests get to see an amazing display of talent and get to interact as the judges. Each year has gotten more and more competitive, and I can’t wait to see the entries this year.
Q: If you weren’t a hotelier, what would you be?
A: I would like to be a social worker, helping people is what I love about my job and I’m always looking for ways to contribute back to the community.
Q: What do you enjoy most about living in greater Princeton?
A: I love the diversity in Princeton, I love the history of the intellects, and the location of being centrally located to NYC and Philadelphia.
Q: Name your favorite place to visit — any destination in the world.
A: I love to visit places with history, rich in culture, and explore any destinations that include natural and serene environments. My favorite place is going back to my roots, in India. I love the northern parts of India, Shimla, the Himalayas. Absolutely stunning views with kind people.
Q: Name three items you absolutely do not travel without.
A: Curling iron, lip balm, and cell phone.
Q: What is something your guests would be surprised to know about you?
A: I love to paint, I used to do a lot of art work when I had time. I also LOVE Latin music.
If you ever find yourself at Sonesta ES Suites South Brunswick or Sonesta ES Suites Princeton, be sure to say “hi” to Bobbie Lal, our dual General Manager!
