Sonesta has created a new series intended to give you a chance to take a peek behind the scenes to meet some of our team and to see how we make the magic happen. This series, entitled “A Day in the Life” will cross reference each of the articles as they are published.
What do you love most about your job?
The best part of this job is the day-to-day challenges you face. Each day there’s something new to work on. One day you may be troubleshooting a faulty HVAC unit, the next looking for a plumbing leak! Talk about “Everyday Surprises” ?
What would surprise others about your job?
I think what would surprise most people, especially our guests, is how much work it takes to keep their guest room up to par. Not just the maintenance team but the entire Sonesta team as a whole plays a part. No one person could ever do it alone.
What are the skills needed to be successful as a property engineer?
Experience, patience, dedication, self-motivation and the ability to work with everyone.
What makes it different to do this job at Sonesta ES Suites?
The biggest difference is, unlike most extended stay hotels it’s an exterior property. I love the outdoors and moving from building to building and maintaining the property.
Want to work for Mike or one of his peers?
