It has been an exciting couple of years for Sonesta International Hotels Corporation, where we have seen extensive growth of our hotel portfolio, in addition to the introduction of new brands Sonesta Simply Suites and Sonesta Select. We have also seen growth in our team, as we have welcomed some of the best talent in hospitality to Sonesta.
Leading the way on this journey has been Sonesta’s President and CEO, Carlos Flores.
After joining the company as an Executive Vice President in 2012, Mr. Flores was named President and CEO of Sonesta in 2015. Growth has always been a part of Mr. Flores’s vision for Sonesta. In his early years with the company, he led the effort to convert new hotels to Sonesta, helping to grow the portfolio from three hotels to 25 hotels. Under his leadership in 2021, Sonesta completed the acquisition of RLH Corporation, establishing Sonesta as one of the largest hotel companies in the world. Now a major contender in the hotel franchising space, Sonesta is poised for further growth and expansion.
In a recent interview for Forbes, Mr. Flores shared insight on the Sonesta’s recent growth.
“While it may seem rapid, this major growth is something we have been planning for over the years. When the pandemic presented some unique growth opportunities, we were not going to hide under a rock. As a small, but competent group with lofty ambitions, we are now seeing those plans come to fruition.”
Throughout his time as President and CEO, Mr. Flores has placed an emphasis not just on growth but on genuine hospitality and integrating Sonesta’s core values and culture, including the #CultureofCaring, every step of the way. He has fostered a culture focused on the company vision: “To wow every guest, team member, partner and community in which we operate by delivering quality, value and amazing hospitality.”
