Complete Hotel Redesign Unveiled in Atlanta

AtlantaWhen you pair a hotel known for its understated style and sophistication with one of Atlanta’s most creative design firms, only magic can result. And that’s exactly what happened when Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta partnered with local Atlanta firm Sims Patrick Studio to completely redesign their hotel.

The design team started with a theme—Southern Charm Meets Modernism—then got to work infusing the hotel’s 426 guestrooms and suites, lobby and function space with the gracious feel of the south. Of course, any designer needs a muse, especially for such a high-concept renovation. For Sims Patrick, it was the local landscape, Lake Lanier and the surrounding Duluth County residential architecture. Soft curves and simple colors complement the airy feel. Of course, there was one thing the design team didn’t need to change in order to round out the theme: the true and genuine southern hospitality of the Sonesta staff. That, as any Sonesta guest knows, was already firmly in place. The ambitious renovation was completed in September.

David Kohlasch, general manager at Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta, couldn’t have been more pleased with the result. “We are excited to reveal our brand new renovations to the public,” he said. “We know our guests will enjoy the remodel to our facilities, and are confident that they will be impressed with our new modern and welcoming look.”

Guests are greeted by the new look in the refreshed lobby, which features an eclectic selection of furniture and elegant fabrics chosen to create the feel of a residential living space. Bold carpet patterns and eye-catching wall features create a vibrant, welcoming entrance.

The theme carries into the function rooms, re-imagined with a simple and elegant look. More than ever, they provide the perfect venues for business meetings, social gatherings, weddings and any number of special events.

In the 426 guestrooms and suites, a crisp and modern feel enhances your stay, bolstered by refinished treatments, new carpet, fresh all-white bedding and new lighting.

Sims Patrick Studio was also satisfied with the finished look. “We were pleased to partner with Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta and to have the opportunity to bring the local destination in to the hotel’s design,” said Libby Patrick, the firm’s founding principal and CEO. “The mix of Southern influence with modern design will provide guests with a welcoming experience as they explore and visit the property.”

The exciting renovations at the Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta are all part of Sonesta’s ongoing commitment to deliver a collection of diverse and distinctive properties as individual as our guests.
