Better Than Summer Camp: The Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta

August5Last month, the next generation of workers and some possible future hoteliers spent a day at the Sonesta Gwinnett Place Atlanta during “Take Your Kids to Work Day.” It proved to be a great opportunity for Sonesta’s Culture of Caring to shine and, more importantly, for youngsters to get a glimpse of what goes on behind the scenes at suburban Atlanta’s most happening hotel.

This was not all fun and games (though there was plenty of that, too!). A group of 17 winsome kids stepped behind the scenes to witness and experience how their parents’ hotel keeps up with day to day demands. During a full day of tours and activities, they spent time learning about the property’s banquets, kitchens and dining rooms, enjoying some treats along the way. They saw the inner workings of the laundry room, housekeeping’s view of the guest room and learned about the hotel’s engineering and maintenance. They even spent time in the Executive Office. Perhaps some of them dreamed of one day sitting at the helm!

When the hour of 3PM rolled around, the eager young crew called it quits for the day. Lucky for them, the hotel’s indoor/outdoor pool was ready and waiting, a refreshing reward for a job well done!

  1. “Take Your Kid’s to Work” is a great way to get the children started on a path to a productive life. The company where I work does this each year and I have the opportunity to bring my grandson. He enjoys coming to see where his “Nannie” works!
