Fall brings state fairs to many states in the US, and after a year hiatus in 2020, fairground lovers are rejoicing at the return of their favorite annual events. State fairs are fun, family-friendly, and offer something for every attendee. From the nostalgia to the bright lights and festive sounds, right down to the abundance of indulgent fair food treats, state fair offerings delight all ages.
Three upcoming state fairs include the Arizona State Fair, The NC State Fair, and the State Fair of Texas. We have hotels in all of these fair destinations; read below for a little on what to expect and where to #StaySonesta when you travel!
The Arizona State Fair invites you to Phoenix for a month of fun! Bring your talent to showcase on the community stages, admire chalk art, view woodcarving and cupcake decorating demonstrations, or enjoy a breathtaking photography exhibit. Creativity is key at the Arizona State Fair, where this year’s theme is “Draw Outside the Lines”. This historic fairground, established in 1905, has been home to some unforgettable acts over the years, including Elvis Presley.

Established in 1886, the State Fair of Texas is steeped in history and celebration and is one of the largest state fairs in the US. Three of the hallmarks of the fair are agriculture, education, and community, and these are reflected in the fair’s many attractions and events over the course of 24 days. At the State Fair of Texas you will find live an extensive live music scene, referred to as a music festival the size of Texas, with dozens of performances on the fair’s various stages. In the fair’s barns you’ll discover livestock education, including the opportunity to meet newborn livestock and 15 breeds of cattle. The fair also includes a rodeo, creative arts building, football, and fair food. Annually the State Fair of Texas supports a number of initiatives including the Big Tex Scholarship program.
